Unemployment Rate as of December 2025 is 2.6%

Labour market estimates from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) Fall 2025 show the unemployment rate (the proportion of unemployed persons to the total labour force) at 2.6%, compared to 2.4% for the same period in 2024.

The employed labour force was estimated at 63,289, and unemployment was 1,700, resulting in a labour force of 64,989, an increase of 6.6% compared to Fall 2024.

The unemployment rate increased from 2.4% to 2.6% in Fall 2025. The Caymanian unemployment rate declined to 4.1% in Fall 2025 from 4.6% a year ago. The number of employed Caymanians was estimated at 24,358, an increase of 13.4% from Fall 2024. This resulted in higher employment among Caymanians relative to a year ago. Unemployment among non-Caymanians was higher in Fall 2025 than in the previous year.

The LFS Report also presents the population estimate for the Islands, derived primarily from administrative data, as of December 2025. The overall population stood at 90,577 in Fall 2025, up by 2.0%. This growth was driven mainly by permanent residents, whose numbers were revised upwards using administrative data to 9,061, up from 8,184 in Fall 2024. The Caymanian population saw a more modest natural increase of 1.1%, reaching 41,063, while the Non-Caymanian population increased by 1.1% to 40,453, relative to Fall 2024.
