Consumer Price Index Up by 4.4% in March 2007

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 147.3 in March 2007, up by 4.4 percent in comparison to March 2006, due to increases in the average prices of all major groups, led by personal goods & services (7.4%), housing equipment (6.6 %) and food (4.6%).

Every quarter of the year, the ESO surveys the prices of 661 items in Grand Cayman and estimates the overall CPI based on these prices. The 661 items were selected based on the results of the 1991 Household Income and Expenditure Survey.
