Life Expectancy for the Cayman Islands is 82.3 years

"The Compendium of Statistics 2013 released today by the Economics and Statistics Office shows that the country’s Life Expectancy at Birth is 82.3 years."

The Compendium of Statistics 2013 released today by the Economics and Statistics Office shows that the country’s Life Expectancy at Birth is 82.3 years. Males are expected to live 79.8 years and females 84.7 years.

⫿Figures on life expectancy are required data for pension and insurance purposes, particularly in calculating expected retirement benefits,??? noted the Hon. Marco Archer, Minister for Finance and Economic Development.

⫿Life expectancy is also generally used as a ⫿quality of life??? indicator ??? this is expected to be higher the more developed a country is,??? Minister Archer further added.

According to a World Health Organization dataset, the highest life expectancy for a country as of 2013 (87.2 years) was recorded for Monaco. Cayman’s 82.3 years would place the country in the same level as France which is ranked 14th in the world. In comparison, the United Kingdom is 29th with 81 years and the United States is 35th with 79.8 years.
