ESO Launches Statistical Publication Release Calendar

"ESO is pleased to announce that the for the first time in the Cayman Islands, a Statistical Publication Release Calendar will be issued to the public."

ESO is pleased to announce that the for the first time in the Cayman Islands, a Statistical Publication Release Calendar will be issued to the public. This will start in 2011 in accordance with the Statistics (Amendment) Law 2010.

The release of a publication calendar seeks to comply with best international statistical practice. Such a calendar recognizes the citizen’s entitlement to public information and ensures the practical and timely utility of information to the users. This also places the country nearer to compliance with the International Monetary Fund’s General Data Dissemination System (GDDS) which recommends the dissemination of advance release calendars.

The Calendar is released to the general public through the Gazette dated 4 January 2011. It coversall statistical reports that will be compiled and published by the ESO in 2011.

The Calendar explicitly states the target date of release of each report. The target dates take into account the submission of these reports by ESO to Cabinet for notation at least six (6) weeks for quarterly reports and at least eight (8) weeks for annual reports prior to the target release date, except for the Compendium. In the case of the Compendium, the ESO will submit the report at least ten (10) weeks prior to the target release date to provide time for its presentation to the Legislative Assembly prior to its actual release.

The Calendar may be released prior to the target date, depending on the actual date
that the reports are noted by the Cabinet.
