The Economics and Statistics Office (ESO) is embarking on a project to produce Annual Balance of Payments (BOP) statistics for the Cayman Islands in accordance with the standards issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The BOP summarizes the economic transactions of a country’s economy with the rest of the world. The BOP is therefore a vital data set for economic policy, planning and decision making, as it shows a country’s status in terms of its international trade performance and ability to attract foreign investment.
The ESO, like its counterparts in other countries, will generate data for the BOP through surveys of businesses, non-profit institutions and government establishments.
ESO is seeking your cooperation in completing the enclosed questionnaire on or before May 21, 2010. Completion of this questionnaire is a legal requirement under the Statistics Law (1996 revision) and the Statistics (System of National Accounts and Balance of Payments) Regulation 2010. Section 17 of the Statistics Law prohibits the communication or publication of information in any manner so that an individual or business may be identified. Be assured that your response to this survey is safe, confidential and will not be made available to any party outside of ESO. ESO will use your response exclusively for the aggregate compilation of data to estimate the BOP statistics.
